Lyla's 8 month update and Mommy's (Leslie) Birthday Weekend!

Lyla is turning 8 months old on May 21st so I thought I would update you all on her progress. I get Lyla's ears checked frequently at her pediatrician. Her pediatrican informed us that she had a little fluid in her ears so we took her to an ENT here on Long Island to see what he thought about her ears. He said that there was fluid in both ears and it looked like the fluid was there for approx. 4-6 weeks. He told us the fluid was not infected but it was a little cloudy. With this information we contacted her doctors in Delaware (DuPont) and we made an appointment with Dr. Schmidt an ENT who specializes in Achondroplasia. We went to visit him on May 10. We decided to take Emma this time and we made it a fun day. We took the girls to the playground and we all went out to breakfast. Emma had a ball!  When we met with Dr. Schmidt they did a lot of audiological tests on her ears. He informed us that because the fluid has not been there very long and it is not infected (Lyla has not had one ear infection so far) he does not see the need for ear tubes at this time. Plus they did a hearing test and other tests and they all came back good. So we will continue to get her ears checked out on Long Island each month and if the fluid is not gone by August she will get ear tubes. Dr. Schmidt said that her ears look great otherwise and there is no cause for concern at all with her ears. So to us this was good news! On a better note....Lyla is the best baby ever! She sleeps all night from 6:00 pm until 6:30 am every night! She is still teething, now getting her second tooth on the bottom. She rolls around like crazy and is still laughing and smiling all the time! She is an absolute joy! She constantly babbles and can grasp objects with no problem. She can even hold her own bottle but will get tired and then she will want us to hold it for her. Here are some updated photos of my beautiful angels!

Girls Night Out Rocks!

Now for Saturday Night with my fabulous hubby! Eddie planned a night in NYC! We really enjoy going into the city and so Eddie had his parents come and watch the girls overnight! We took the train in cause Eddie did not want to deal with traffic. So many streets were closed off due to street fairs. So we headed into the city and stayed at one of our favorite hotels called the CHATWAL! Amazing service with your own butler! Crazy! Anyway we got in early, went to our hotel and got ready and went out to eat at a Mexican Restaurant called Hell's Kitchen. I love mexican food! Very Delicious! Then we headed to see the broadway musical ROCK OF AGES! So AWESOME! If you love 80's music you will love this show. It was hysterical and the singing was incredible. I couldn't stop dancing and clapping! Pretty much the entire theatre was doing the same thing. We had great floor seats 10 rows up from the stage, in the center, on the aisle. It was so much fun. Then we went out for drinks at the Lambs Club. I had an AMAZING night with Eddie and he planned a really nice evening for my Birthday! He always does! Here are some pics!

Emma's Birthday Weekend!

I bet you thought the above pictures were Lyla. They are NOT! They are actually Emma. Look how much my daughters look alike. Emma Grace Granshaw came into the world on May 6, 2007. She weighed 7lbs. and was 19 1/2 inches long. Our beautiful Emma turns four on Friday but we celebrated this weekend and we had so much fun. Emma loved her parties! We started on Saturday where Eddie and I took our immediate family out to dinner. We went to a Hibachi restaurant called Tai Show. It was a lot of fun and very delicious! Here are some pics from the restaurant. There were 18 people and we had an entire area reserved for all of us.

Emma before we left for the restaurant. Such a DIVA!
