Celebrating Dwarfism Awareness Month! and Pics from Lyla's 2nd Bday!

Dwarfism Awareness!

I have been waiting to publish this post till the end of the month because a lot has been going on over here for Dwarfism Awareness Month. At the end of September we were very fortunate to take part in NewYork officially becoming a state that recognizes Dwarfism Awareness Month in October. The LPA had a press conference at a hotel in Time Square followed by a banquet dinner reception. This was such an exciting day for the LPA and we had such a nice time supporting the cause. Here are some pics from NYC!

In the meantime, I decided that I needed to do more to help raise awareness. I did the article in our local paper, I went into NYC to support Dwarfism Awareness Month but I still felt like more needed to be done. So I spoke to my Principal at my school and told him that I would like to raise money for the LPA through donations. It was a month long fundraiser with all the faculty and staff involved. On October 24 all the faculty and staff wore green (I designated this day for everybody in the school to wear green in honor of Dwarfism Awareness Month and of course my Lyla Rose!) I am happy to report that my school raised..........$1,186 for the Little People of America! It was touching and needless to say I was speechless. Here a just a few students and staff members wearing green. I am in the pic on the left side and my principal is on the right. Next year I am adding more schools in my district and hopefully if that goes well we are going district wide. I will do anything to help raise awareness for my daughter and all of our LP friends!

Thank you Laurel Park Elementary!
