My 16 month old!

OMG!!!! I can't believe my beautiful Lyla is 16 months old already! She is doing great! Still not saying a whole lot but I just started to teach her sign language. She just learned the sign for "more". She definitely understands everything we say to her. I am waiting to call Early Intervention until she's aprox. 18 months to see if she starts to say a little more.
She absolutely loves books! Lyla will sit on your lap and listen to a story or listen to you point to pictures.
She can easily climb out of things. So I have to make sure she is strapped in really tight. She can sit in a grocery cart now and the girl gets so excited! She feels like a "big girl". Here are some updated pics of my amazing, sweet, lovable, beautiful daughter and what she's been up to lately!

I'm a "Big Girl" now! I can sit in the cart!

I love playing with dolls.

I love dancing when Elmo sings! Here I am shakin' my booty!

Here I am looking beautiful! I know I have gorgeous blue eyes!

No mommy! I will not wear these UGGS! I don't like anything on my feet!

Mommy always has me dressed like a Diva!

I love it when my family reads to me.
I especially love when Daddy swings me!

Here I am crawling around my house!

I love playing with my Big Sister and sharing snacks with her.

Yes I love getting into mischief.......like grabbing the phone on this table! Don't get mad at me Mommy.
Being a Mom is the greatest joy of my life!

Let it Snow!

It snowed today on Long Island. The first real snow we had all winter. I took the girls out in the snow and Emma was so excited to play in it. Lyla on the other hand, didn't like the snow very much. Here are some cute pics of the girls.

Little Person Wins A Golden Globe!

Peter Dinklage, an actor born with Achondroplasia, won a golden globe last night. Eddie and I were watching the Golden Globes and were so excited when Peter Dinklage won for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Series, Mini Series or Movie. He is in the HBO series "Game of Thrones". He also won the Emmy for the same show. Here is a picture of him and his wife (who is average height). They just had a baby girl who he mentioned in his acceptance speech. He is such a role model for Little People. This shows that LP can achieve ANYTHING!!!!!!!!

Peter Dinklage

He also mentioned a man by the name of Martin Henderson and told the viewers to "Google" him. Eddie and I did Google him and discovered that Martin Henderson is a 37 year old Little Person who is also an actor. He was in the Harry Potter movies. Martin Henderson was in a bar in England when he was picked up and tossed hard to the ground. He was injured very badly. People did this to him because he was a LP. They targeted him because of "Dwarf Tossing".  I started this blog to help other families and to advocate for dwarfism. Please keep Martin Henderson in your prayers!

Here are more pics of Peter Dinklage at the Golden Globes! Peter was born in New Jersey to average height parents. He has been in many movies and was finally recognized for his work in Game of Thrones!

LPA Winter Party!!!!

This year our LPA chapter started 2012 with a Winter Party! They decided to go with a 50's theme. The party was Saturday night. When I first found out about the theme, I wasn't going to dress up. Poodle skirts and frumpy dresses are not my thing. But I was completely wrong. The 50's was SMOKIN' HOT!!!! I couldn't believe how sexy this decade was!!! First I bought Emma and my niece Katie matching poodle skirt outfits. Then I had someone make a poodle skirt for Lyla. This way the girls would all be matching. A lot of our family members came to give support to Lyla and it was so wonderful they joined us. My sister and Bruce always come to all the LPA events. They would never miss anything that involved Lyla. My parents also flew in from Florida to attend and so did Eddie's parents and my Aunt Weezie! Let me just say the party was AMAZING!!!!!! Everyone had so much fun! A BIG thank you to our Long Island Chapter for setting up such a fabulous event. As a matter a fact, Emma woke up this morning and ran into our room and said.....,"Mommy and Daddy the party was so awesome last night!"  And my niece Katie told my sister   the same thing when she woke up. It was a very late night for the girls. We didn't get home until about midnight but it was well worth it! Here are some pics from the party:
